Mounties in Police George are asking witnesses to come forward after a serious motor vehicle incident on Feb. 19.
Spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper says a member of Prince George RCMP's Traffic Service was patrolling northbound on Foothills Boulevard when he saw numerous vehicles with their hazard lights on.
Cooper says the officer then found a grey Ford F-150 sitting in the raised centre median facing southbound traffic.
The truck sustained major front-end damage and sheared off a power pole, causing outages to about 5,800 BC Hydro customers in the area.
Cooper adds Traffic Services Unit is investigating any role that alcohol or drug impairment could have played in the incident and are now asking anyone who witnessed the crash or any other drivers to speak with police.
"Due to the danger posed by the downed Hydro pole, witnesses were quickly cleared from the scene by emergency services personnel," she says.
"To gain more perspective on this event, police would like to speak with anyone who saw the incident or the driving behaviour of the vehicle in the minutes preceding the incident."
Witnesses are asked to call the non-emergency line of the detachment at 250-561-3300.
